YOUR SPOUSE, YOUR BEST FRIEND, YOUR CONTRACTOR ALL EXPERTS AGREE YOU SHOULD GET A NEW ONE! EVERYONE EXCEPT ME.
SURE I GET IT, YOU INVESTED A LOT INTO YOUR NEW APPLIANCE AND NOW IT IS GIVING YOU TROUBLE. IT'S NEW AND UNDER WARRANTY. IT'S A HASSLE, IT'S DISAPPOINTING, IT'S MADDING ALL THE ABOVE.
SO HOW COME I THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE IT REPAIRED? FROM MY EXPERIENCE REPLACING A NEW QUALITY PRODUCT IS ALMOST ALWAYS UNNECESSARY. IF THE MANUFACTURE BUILT IT TO DO THE JOB IT WAS INTENDED TO DO, THEN WHY CAN'T IT BE REPAIRED? HERE IS A SHORT EXAMPLE OF WHY NOT GET IT REPLACED DIRECT FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE;
I WAS OUT ON A REPAIR AND WHILE I WAS THERE THE CUSTOMER ASKED ME TO LOOK AT A PRODUCT OUR COMPANY DIDN'T REPRESENT. I TOLD THEM I COULDN'T REPAIR IT FOR THEM UNDER THEIR MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. EVEN STILL THEY PRESSED ME TO HAVE A LOOK AT IT. THEY HAD 3 BRAND NEW FRIDGES IN THE SPAN OF A FEW MONTHS. EACH TIME THE TECHNICIAN SAID THEY SHOULD GET A NEW ONE. EACH TIME IT WAS REPLACED SOMETHING GOT DAMAGED, ONE TIME IS WALL ANOTHER THE FLOOR AND ONCE THE DOOR ON THE FRIDGE ITSELF WAS DENTED. EACH TIME REQUIRED A SERVICE CALL TO EVALUATE IT AND A SEPARATE DELIVERY TIME. IT WAS TAKING A SERIOUS TOLL ON THEIR TIME AND ON THEIR HOME! WHAT WAS WORSE ALL THREE UNITS FAILED IN EXACTLY THE SAME MANNER. WHAT HAPPENED? SIMPLE, ALL THREE UNITS HAD THE SAME PART FAIL. IT'S EASY TO SEE WHY THIS HAPPENS. THE MANUFACTURE RECEIVES A BATCH OF PARTS FROM A SUPPLIER PUTS THEM IN A SERIAL NUMBER RANGE AND SHIPS THEM OUT TO ONE OR TWO DISTRIBUTORS AND JUST LIKE THAT YOU HAVE MULTIPLE FAILURES OF THE SAME TYPE IN ONE OR TWO AREAS. LIKELY THE REPLACEMENT PARTS COME FROM A DIFFERENT BATCH AND WILL FUNCTION WITHOUT A PROBLEM FOR MANY YEARS. IN THIS CASE THEY HAPPILY PAID PARTS AND LABOUR TO HAVE THE UNIT REPAIRED.
THE FACT IS, IT ALMOST ALWAYS BETTER TO HAVE A REPAIR THAN A REPLACEMENT. YES EVEN IF IT TAKES A MORE THAN ONCE TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW. ONE IS THE TECHNICIAN WORKING WITH YOU AND FACTORY TO GET YOUR PRODUCT UP RUNNING AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE? TWO IS IT WORKING AS DESIGNED TO WORK, OR HAS BEEN OVERSOLD? ONE THE BEST OVER SELLING TECHNIQUES IS THE 'IT WILL NEVER NEED REPAIRS.' LINE. EVEN THE BEST MADE PRODUCTS NEED SERVICE (LUCKY FOR ME). THREE IS YOUR TECHNICIAN FACTORY TRAINED AND FAMILIAR WITH YOUR PRODUCT. FOUR WILL YOUR TECHNICIAN TAKE THE NECESSARY CARE TO RESPECT YOUR HOME AND YOUR NEW APPLIANCE.
THE MYTH OF PRODUCT REPLACEMENT, IS ONE SOLD TO US BY A FEW LARGE RETAILERS. PERHAPS AS A REPLACEMENT TO GOOD QUALITY SERVICE. NOW AS THEY SEE HOW INEFFECTIVE AND EXPENSIVE THE POLICY IS, THEY ARE TRYING TO BACK AWAY FROM THE ABYSS. MOST RETAILERS RELY ON COVERAGE AT AN EXTRA COST TO THE CUSTOMER OR LIMIT REPLACEMENT TO A SHORT FIXED TIME. THE TROUBLE IS THEY DID SUCH A GOOD JOB OF SELLING US ON THIS NONSENSE THAT THEY TRULY HAVING A TOUGH TIME.
I AM CONVINCED EVERYONE FROM YOUR DEALER TO THE MANUFACTURE WANT YOU BE SATISFIED WITH YOUR NEW APPLIANCE. BY TAKING THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE THEY MAY BE MOVING YOUR FURTHER AND FURTHER FROM THAT GOAL!
